Top 10 Recap Of 2009.
Did it last year, really loved doing it, thought I'd do the same this year.
This year has been mad. Probably the most eye-opening, life-changing year yet.
10. Bye Bye Rod, Hello Victor
Rod was amazing but lets face it I needed a new car, after 2 years Rod finally reached his limit, engine kept cutting out, my MOT was due and it would cost as much as a new car. So that's what I did! I was going to buy a brand new Polo on Finance but my two Guarantors didn't come through and confirmed. Which sucked but I probably wouldn't be able to afford it. Went to Southampton to find a car, went to a few garages and there was Victor all shiny and white. We got it as a reduced price because...that's all I had and bought it yay! It's like a year older than Rod but it's a Diesel so who cares? Cheaper! Still can't get rid of Rod yet. It's too painful.
9. Seeing Northern Josh after 4 years.
4 years! Josh came to visit twice whilst we went out all those years ago. It was my turn, I've never been that North so I was well excited. Drove for hundreds of miles, took ageees, Rod handled it very well considering I didn't check my car beforehand. Like a fool. It worked though. Had such a good time, good night out with great people. Need to see him again, we get on so well, shame he lives soooo far away. It's such a bizzare way of meeting someone like we did way back when in like 2002/2003 to still be chatting now even though we're opposites side of the country is pretty awesome and seeing him again after all this time was even better. Him getting sick of driving down the same road, the alleyway experiences, his lesbian friend who I adore and play 360 with Ian and his mates, I had mega lols.
8. Pet Shop Boy.
To be fair if I didn't get a job, I would not survive Uni, lets be honest. Or not have a car, but that would be terrible. Got a job at the Pet Shop down the road from Uni with great people. I started with this girl called Hayley, she was really friendly, the assistance manager didn't like her, she doesn't like anyone to be fair but Hayley left eventually. I was gutted, Kate was employed and I love her. So so funny. I work in Christchurch and Bournemouth, most of it is me explaining "no, we don't sell pets." Frustrating. This would probably be higher if it wasn't for my manager making every single day really awkward. He took me to Hairspray and Wicked though. A-ma-zing. So, thankfully, I can live!
7. Freshers Week / Getting into Uni
I didn't go to Freshers week last year, mainly because I lived in Southampton but this year I went out every night (except one in which I died), I don't think I'v ever had so much fun, it is where I got to know everyone really well and got close to everyone. Actually getting into Uni was a mission. I was on the foundation so there were only 6 spaces out of 25-ish people, my showreel was "perfect" apparently and I got onto the course. We were brought into the room one by one, Julie told me I got in, and I hugged her. Weird awkward moment but knowing the next three years of your life is sorted, I had to express it somehow!
6. Darryl P.
Sooo, going to be careful about this. The longest relationship and probably the most important and eye opening. I was a twat to him, I'm a twat to guys in general but Darryl got the full force of it because we went into a relationship without getting to know each other first. Bad times. The bad times were the worst but the good times were amazing. Valentines day, Pier, his little surprises, all the good non-drama nights out, being totally comfortable was such a change from the usual relationship I've ever had. He clearly needs a mention here because I cared about him a great deal no matter what people said, it ended up in the shitter because of me, all of the good times were because of him.
5. Mell O.
The one person who changed me to the person I wanted to be. The one person who I can see a potential future with and the one person I have properly fallen for since the start of Uni. This year after everything, she is the thing that has topped this year off. We met during Freshers week through friends and we hit it off instantly. Ever since then we have been really close and I have no idea where to go from here. It's been scary because for once I actually know what I want, but as always obstacles stop things from happening. If it is meant to happen it'll happen, but what has happened so far, I wouldn't change for the world. Because right now, she is my world. I hope in time we both know where we stand because these past few months have been the happiest in a very long time.
4. Team C.A.K.E
Kate, Andy and Emma were the closest people to me in Foundation year, Emma made Bournemouth for me, going out and things, it was the most devestating thing when she left. All three of them were awesome. Luckily Kate stuck around to get even closer to this year whilst Andy didn't get on to the course but has stayed in Bournemouth. I wouldn't have survived last year without them. We made three awesome films together and persuaded the tutors to work as 4 for our final film. That kinda failed but the other three were awesome. 'Anna' - the fake portrait, 'Swing Set' - our experimental installation which was SO much fun, and basically got me on to the course. 'Amazing When Frustration Ends' took such a long time to film but out of the films that were shown, ours was up there, a kind of semi-serious Peep Show with Darryl's incredible acting. Cough. Unfortunantly Team CAKE do not meet up due to the 'A' going along with his girlfriends opinion instead of his own. Well, this is what we think. Ah well, it was amazing whilst it lasted.
3. Steven & Rome.
Someone asked me what the best day of the year was and I replied when Steven finally came back from Australia and I stand by it. I don't think I have been that nervous since my driving test seeing him for the first time in a year. As cheesy as it sounds, probably the best hug I've ever had too on that day. I wanted to rush into doing everything which maybe I shouldn't have done because it caused yet another semi-complicated relationship. Well, it didn't have to be but when I'm concerned with another guy it is always complicated. It was amazing whilst it lasted and for my birthday we both went to Rome, I loved every day with him to finally be together alone was just great. I couldn't imagine spending that time with anyone else, I wanted to have the best summer yet and Steven made that for me. My head just got screwy when I started Uni again with everything changing and Steven back in Southampton. Even when I screwed up at the beginning he said I was "worth the risk", devestating that I screwed it all up. Yeah I miss it and him but past is past. I wish I could go back and change it for the better.
2. Last months with the Besties.
I won't forget for as long as I live 2009's summer, spending it with the Besties, going to Brighton to visit Alex, Thorpe Park, DOND, nights out, Bomo visiting and the last night with Rosie and Alex where I have never seen Rosie cry like that before, it made me realise that I do have the greatest friends. 7-ish years only to be split up for Uni this year, it is so high on the list because unlike last year, I am totally ready. And I love them.
1. Moving to Bomo / Leanne & Jade
This is number one because it is probably the most life changing thing this year, moving out. Meeting two of the greatest people this year has to be the top one too. I moved in February to Malmesbury Park Rd with Leanne, Jade and Mike, it was the second house that Emma and I visited, I was looking for ages, I didn't meet Jade until Darryl and I went to a house party, Leanne and Jade recognised me and we talked, it was amazing. I could not afford it at all but I managed to get through foundation year away from home because I just couldn't take it with arguing families and commuting every day. Apparently I changed when I moved to Bournemouth but in my opinion I eventually changed for the better, Jade and Leanne helped me every step of the way through everything and we all just get on, it's bloody brilliant and so are they.
This year has been mad. Probably the most eye-opening, life-changing year yet.
